How long does it take to design my website?
We get asked this a lot, and unfortunately the answer is that it varies. Some sites take months to design and develop; others take a few weeks.
Each business has unique requirements, and every customer has a different objective. It’s hard for us to guess, so we tend not to guess. By meeting with you, and doing a bit of planning and discussing your goals, we can determine your project specifications.
I already have a website, can you transfer the content over?
Yes you can! If you already have content that you want to use we can normally transfer this over as part of our package.
Do I need to pay upfront?
We require a 50% deposit upfront to enable us to begin the planning process and schedule in the work with you and our team. On completion of the project, the remaining 50% will be invoiced with the balance payable within 30 days.
Do I need to provide content for my website?
You are the expert on your business and are usually best placed to provide the content. We will help you with this if you need assistance to try to make it as easy as possible for you.
Will my website be mobile-friendly?
All the websites we design are compatible with a range of devices including smart phones, tablets and laptops. We keep this in mind from the very beginning of the design process.
Yes, once all invoices are paid we can provide a copy of your website and database as a zip file.
My website is new so I don't need any WordPress Maintenance?
Sometimes we receive enquiries from clients to the effect of "My web designers did a great job! They built my website and told me that I can just leave it alone and it will run forever!"
The advice isn't true and it's not a good one. Once you have built a website there's little chance anything could go wrong, but over time the odds of things breaking and your site being compromised increase. When your site becomes insecure or becomes compromised or when you realise things aren't working as expected, you will most likely need to contact a developer to fix your site.
Don't be surprised to find that your website will cost significantly more to have cleaned and restored than it would cost for WordPress Maintenance.
Can I manage my WordPress site on my own?
Yes, as long as you know what you are doing and have the time and discipline to regularly complete all maintenance tasks.
All WordPress sites run on plugins from third parties, and they all need to work well with one another and WordPress. Plugins are created by all sorts of developers, thus the quality of their work varies from good to bad. As a result, the chances of something breaking are real and inevitable.
Often, your site may 'appear' to run smoothly, you could even be hacked without showing any symptoms. You need to have a good set of processes and tools to perform routine tasks to maintain your website. If your website comes down, you need to have the skills and time to resolve any problems that may occur.
My website is not on your web hosting servers, can I still be on a care plan?
We would prefer you to use one of our web hosting as we know and trust them to deliver the best service to you, including using our premium plugins. It is highly recommended if you host with us because daily restore points are available and our server firewalls will protect your data. Our free migration service will make switching as easy as possible for you.
Why wasn't I made aware of WordPress Maintenance when my site was built?
When WordPress was initially released the need to keep your software updated was low priority. Updates appeared only when something broke. WordPress has evolved over time to become the leading content management system.
The same time, hackers and criminals found that there is a lot of money to be made from hacking into websites with very little chance of being caught.
Protecting your site from hackers on the internet has never been more important, and more frequent software updates are released. We introduced the WordPress Support and Maintenance Service to help you keep your site running.
Why should I use WordPress if it needs all this maintenance?
In 2020, over 38% of websites will be built using WordPress. That makes WordPress one of the most popular open-source Content Management Systems (CMS) available.
WordPress software is powerful and full-featured. Frequent updates make it an easy-to-use solution with ongoing enhancements via upgrades.
WordPress remains the best choice for our clients who need a modern, easy-to-update website that can be easily updated as business needs change.
Can't I just restore my site from backups?
We cannot guarantee that any software will be 100% error-free because WordPress software is written by humans and mistakes happen.
WordPress can also use plugins and rely on themes. However, this software is written by third parties and we cannot guarantee the software of third parties.
Our team will protect your site with the best practices.
Can you guarantee that my site will operate error free?
Backups are great if you have the time to do them and if you do them regularly. However, this activity often gets overlooked until something goes wrong and the situation becomes critical.
Often, simply restoring a backup will not resolve the issue. If your site was broken into through a vulnerability and it's restored from your last backups, the hackers will simply return and gain access again since the vulnerability remains.
Backups are essential, but you should be updating all the plugins and themes frequently.
